Create AI Agents to Automate Work with Google Workspace Studio
Google just announced Workspace Studio, a new way to build AI agents that automate your everyday work. Powered by Gemini 3, it puts custom automation in the hands of every employee without requiring any coding or specialized syntax.
What is Workspace Studio?
Workspace Studio is the new home for designing, managing, and sharing AI agents within Google Workspace. Previously known as Workspace Flows, it builds on the familiar “if this, then that” automation model but with a crucial upgrade: intelligence.
While earlier automation tools relied on rigid rules, Workspace Studio leverages Gemini 3’s multimodal understanding to create agents that can reason, adapt, and handle nuanced situations. These agents can perform sentiment analysis, generate content, intelligently prioritize tasks, and send smart notifications.
How it works
Creating an agent is straightforward. You can describe what you want to automate in natural language or select from pre-built templates. For example, you might say: “If an email contains a question for me, label the email as ‘To respond’ and ping me in Chat.”
Workspace Studio handles the rest, whether your automation has two steps or twenty. Agents can work across Gmail, Drive, and Chat natively, and Google has built pre-configured connectors for popular apps like Asana, Jira, Mailchimp, and Salesforce. For more advanced needs, you can create custom steps using Apps Script to connect to internal tools or Vertex AI models.
Sharing agents with your team
Just as you share files in Google Drive, you can now share entire automated workflows. This makes it easy to distribute useful agents across your organization, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing. When someone on your team builds an agent that solves a common problem, the whole team can benefit.
Availability
Workspace Studio is rolling out to business customers over the coming weeks. Once available for your organization, you can access it at workspace.google.com/studio. Google is also providing support through their Help Center and a dedicated Discord community channel.
