Gemini Deep Research Now Integrates with Your Workspace Content
Google just made Gemini Deep Research significantly more useful by connecting it to your actual Workspace content. This has been one of their most-requested features – and it’s easy to see why.
What’s new?
Deep Research can now pull information directly from your Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, PDFs, and even Google Chat. Instead of only searching the public web, it can analyze the documents, emails, and conversations that are already part of your daily work.
This means you can ask Deep Research to create comprehensive reports that combine public information with your team’s internal context – all in one research session.
Why does this matter?
Think about how you typically research a topic today. You might search the web, dig through your email for relevant threads, check your Drive for related documents, and scan Chat for team discussions. That’s a lot of tab-switching and context-juggling.
With this update, Deep Research can do all of that simultaneously. Need to build a competitor analysis? It can cross-reference public web data with your team’s strategy docs, comparison spreadsheets, and relevant chat conversations. Working on a market analysis for a new product? It can pull from your team’s brainstorming docs, related email threads, and project plans.
The research is informed by both what’s publicly available and what your team already knows.
How to use it
Using Deep Research with Workspace content is straightforward. Select “Deep Research” from the Tools menu in Gemini and enter your research question. You’ll then choose which sources to include – Google Search, Gmail, Drive, or Chat.
Deep Research will analyze the information from your selected sources and create a comprehensive report. It’s like having a research assistant who has access to both the internet and your organization’s collective knowledge.
When can you use it?
This feature is available now for all Gemini users on desktop, with mobile support coming soon. The Workspace integration (Gmail, Drive, and Chat) is available to all Gemini users, not just business accounts.
Privacy note
Your Workspace data stays secure. Deep Research only accesses content you have permission to view, and it follows the same security and privacy controls as the rest of your Workspace environment.
This integration turns Deep Research from a helpful web research tool into something that can actually understand your organization’s context. For teams that already use Gemini, it’s a meaningful upgrade to how they can leverage AI for research and analysis.
